Hey guys,

I have been preparing the step to wearing for a while now, although my thinning isn't that extreme yet. However, I'm really conscious about the problem most of the time and it kinda ruins my life. Also, we all know that baldness is a progressive phenomenon and by simply looking at my dad's head, I know what expects me. That being said, I think it is wise to take the step rather sooner than later so that the change isn't noticeable and no one realizes.

The pictures I attach show IMO that there is a really big difference in appearance between normal and bad hair days. So it's more on bad hair days that I feel really terrible about my hair. (just fyi: I've never used concealers, all pics are just my natural hair)

Okay, here are my questions that I'd really love to have your input to:

1. Until very recently, I thought about starting with a front partial replacing my thinned out hairline going not further than some 2.5 inches into the back to get the hang of it and see whether wearing is an acceptable solution for me. Then I took the below picture showing how thin my crown already looks on bad days. Ever since I think I have to go for a full topper immediately to prevent creating a really obvious contrast. What do you guys think? Is it much more difficult to start with a topper right away? I do need one, not just some frontal replacement, don't I?

2. As a totally inexperienced user, I'd say given the curliness of my hair, I should order a body wave, correct? Although my hair gets quite curly when getting longer, this is about as long as I grow it anyways. And when I see the curliness of Paul's piece who ordered body wave as well, that seems to be even more than I need.

3. Which style should I order provided I don't want to change much about my hairstyle? Freestyle or something else?

4. Could someone of you take the picture showing the top of my head and draw in the area I should shave and replace? I think my thinning is limited to the hairline and the parting area. At the sides and also at the sides of the top, if you get what I mean, I still have ever so thick hair!

5. Fifth and last question would be about color: During summer, my hair usually gets a lot more blonde then it looks on the pictures. Does the piece hair change brightens as well due to the sunlight or will I get a mess when ordering my current hair color and then seeing a brightening in my natural hair?

I'm really curious about your comments, please help me to take this step as you have done in so many cases before. I'm really in deep psychological trouble because of the way I look (or would look without hair). And before anyone tells me to go see a therapist, doin' that already!

Thanks a lot in advance to all of you! From what I've read so far on this forum, you're a great community!

this is not a full attachment. i've still got my real hair underneath. i just Walker No-shine taped the hairline on, but the rest of the piece is just sitting on top of my natural hair (No clips or anything)

anyway, i'm really happy with the color and texture, i think the blend is good.. but i need to ask on here in case i'm fooling myself.

In the close up photo, you can see my natural hairline through the lace about an inch behind the hairline of the piece. The visibility of the lace freaked me out a bit when i looked at the photo, but am i right in assuming that with a shaved head underneath and a proper attachment, that that lace would just disappear?

Anyway, thoughts/feedback on all the pics would be appreciated.

Hello everyone, new poster but have been a long time lurker here.

First of all I wanna thank everyone in this forum for the wealth of info and knowledge they provide.I have a question/concern and would appreciate your honest input.

I have a custome piece that i've ordered from TL.It's a SFS 1B with 65-70% density. My question/concern is: shouldn't the lace be transparent especially a super fine swiss lace?? I ask this because the base is not transparent at all, instead it has a light brownish/tan tinge.

I have yet to wear the system and haven't done anything to it other than shampooing it a couple of times with EverPure.
I have attached a couple of pics to illustrate what i mean.

So my questions to you are:

1) Is this normal??!
2) Is there anything I can do to brighten the lace?

Thank You!
I was thinking about a small piece that would run across temple to temple but would also have the middle part sit behind my hairline to give it extra thickness.

The people on here seem to place it infront of thir existing hairline, mine would fill in the receeding area as well as run into my island hair to thicken it up.

Would this be ok?

It would only around 2 1/2 cm in depth so quite a thin piece is it possible to have such a small piece and have density?

thanks.

I'm not currently wearing a piece.. i'm waiting for a new piece to arrive, so i'm dealing with my real hair and a little concealer at the moment. I do have a piece here (that i've never worn), which is cut and ready to go.. but i don't want to shave the top of my head and fully commit to wearing again until my new custom piece arrives.. which will still be several weeks away.

But i've got some Walker no-shine tape for the hairline, and would like to see how this piece i have here would look.. and maybe even wear it out and about with clips.. but to be honest.. i'm not exactly sure how clips work.

i found these on ebay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/40-x-U-Shape-...1c20493d79

Would they work? i can see how they would grip into my natural hair.. but how would they attach to the piece? would i need to sew it into the perimeter of my piece?
anyone have a link to something else i should look at?

again, this is not for a long term solution.. just something to try out my piece

i found these on ebay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/40-x-U-Shape-...1c20493d79

Would they work? i can see how they would grip into my natural hair.. but how would they attach to the piece? would i need to sew it into the perimeter of my piece?
anyone have a link to something else i should look at?

again, this is not for a long term solution.. just something to try out my piece

Hi all. I've just tried my first detach/re-attach and its not gone so well to say the least. I have a small crown piece that goes from the back to about 2 inches behind my hairline.

I had 2 mirrors so I could kind of see what I'm doing during the re-attaching, but I ended up with the piece not sitting where it should, and so have ended up with a big gap on one side. I also found it very hard to keep the hair from getting stuck in the glue, so have consequently ended up with a sticky, unsightly mess.

Does anyone have any tips for attaching a partial i.e. lining up to the shaved area? I've seen plenty of tutorials for attaching a full topper, but none for a partial.

Feeling very deflated after this episode, to the point of contemplating a head shave, still, will try again tomorrow before making any rash decisions I'll no doubt regret.

Hello everyone, new poster but quite a long term lurker here.

After so many years trying to conceal and thicken and maintain etc etc I've decided to go for it and get a partial hairpiece.

Id be so grateful if anyone could answer a few questions for me!

1) I want a partial hairpiece to sit behind the hairline,to bulk up the forelock and restore the points on each side- essentially a U-shape if looking from the back to front,do I go for a custom or cut it from a topper to suit my needs?

2)I would guess sending in a hair sample would be best to achieve the best colour match?

3)My hair has always been very fine but I still have strong hair around the sides and back and forelock, i REALLY need help deciding what density to go for, any ideas?

4)I would imagine blowdrying and therefore the heat would do damage to the lace/system but what about on a low setting? Just wondering if i can keep it on to both wash my hair and to dry.

Ok so here are some pictures, anything I can do to help explain myself better please do say!

many thanks!

The time when I get sick of wearing a hair system the most is in the summer. As the temperature goes up, wearing a system just starts becoming annoying. It feels hotter, the bonds don't hold up as much.. Sweat makes everything more a pain in the ass. When you can't get your scalp very clean and dry for the first few hours you attach, the glue breaks down a lot faster.

Anyone else feel this way about the summer and wearing?

Transitioning from ProThik

I've been using ProThik for almost 5 years now. Its plus, and it's a big plus, is it makes me look like I have way more hair than I really do.

However, after all that time, the negatives are really weighing on me. I'm sick of the mess (in my bathroom, all over my pillowcases, steering wheel in car) and am still not fully secure with it. The issue with ProThik is it's dull. It looks almost natural, but not quite. Even though it looks like I have way thicker hair than I do, I'm always worried about what people think when they see it.

Anyway, my plan for a while has been to wait until I switch jobs. I decided that a few years ago. And here I am, 4 years later, at the same job.

There's a chance I may be seeking another job in the next year, but there's also a chance I'll be at this job for a bit longer. And I'm reaching the point where I'm not sure if I want to wait anymore.

My job allows me to wear a hat. Others do, for fashion or whatever reason, and no one cares. So some days when I don't want the maintenance I do that. But I'm always worried about having to uncover when I've been sweaty, it's rubbed off, and generally looks awful.

Anyway, my challenge is transitioning. People are used to the current look, for better or worse, and if I come in with a new shiny piece they're going to notice.

I plan on going to someone professional, for at the very least the first time. Debbie perhaps? I believe I remember her being in Maine? I'm in New England so not too far.

I had a thought of maybe "weaning off" the ProThik by wearing a little on the piece and slowly reducing that. Is that feasible? Will it ruin the piece?

Also, I see Debbie hasn't been on the forum for a long time. Can anyone PM me her email?

I'm a 22 year old guy from Europe, suffering from hairloss since 3.5 years. I am using propecia and minoxidil since 2 years, but it didn't had any affect and the hairloss got worse.
I rely on toppik for the last 2 years but come to the point where it doesnt look nice anymore.

So i am considering a hairpiece, but i am still uncertain about some aspects of wearing. I only want to do this if it looks really perfect.

So here is my question:

Can i wear a lace system if i have around 1/3 of my original hair left ?

What happens with my natural hair if i shave it and glue a piece to my scalp ?

Can the natural hair grow into the scalp causing infections ? Or will the hair just grow between the scalp and the base ?

I appologize if this is a stupid question, but i am unfamiliar with wearing.

But what if someone make a liquid that dried into a tape like this. I mean, tape starts out as some form of liquid in the manufacturing process before it is made into tape shape.

Vapon No Tape tried to do this and came closer than any other glue maker, but it is still just a glue and it doesn't have the strength of Extendabond and it does break down too. So, someone needs to come up with a way to make a liquid glue that solidifies into a tape-like substance like Extendabond. That will be a game changer and make millions and millions of dollars!
